Leadership Nuggets
You Cannot Change What You Refuse to Confront.
I have attempted to live my life by the motto: “Problems don’t just go away – they are solved.” Of course, to solve a problem, you first have to confront it. All the wishing in the world won’t make it just disappear! As the leader, somewhere along the way you have to muster the backbone to confront problems. Many a leader has failed in his leadership assignment because of his failure to confront problems.
Now, rest assured, problems have to be confronted in the right way. Confronting a problem like a bull in a China shop just creates more problems. The confrontation must be done prayerfully, in love, with much counsel, grace, forgiveness, as much understanding as possible, and with the intent to turn, salvage, and restore the person who is creating the problem. (Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.)
So, as you lead in the particular setting God has placed you, remember, you cannot change what you refuse to confront and when you do confront your problem(s) you must do so correctly. However, at the end of the day, it must be confronted! As long as you tolerate something, that’s exactly what you’ll get!
