Everything in life has what is called: Harmonic Resonance. In the simplest terms, this can best be explained as an internal frequency that, when it encounters an external force emitting the same frequency, causes the internal frequency to vibrate. Picture in your mind one of those low-rider gangsta cars equipped with one of them super-duper, bass thumping, loud boom box stereo systems. You know the kind; you can be sitting in your house and hear them coming a mile away. When they get close enough to your house the floors begins to shake and the windows begin to vibrate. You can also picture an opera singer who can shatter a glass with their voice by hitting a super high note. That’s harmonic resonance.

With that thought in mind, let me tell you about an experiment that was conducted that involved the Eastern Bluebird. Scientists gathered the eggs from an Eastern Bluebird’s nest. They took the eggs into their laboratory and hatched them in an incubator. As part of their experiment they kept the birds isolated for six months in a sound proof room. During this time the birds didn’t hear a sound, nor did they make a sound. After six months the scientists began to play the songs of various species of birds for the little birds and recorded their reaction. They played the song of the Robin, Wren, Sparrow, Thrasher, and many other birds. They had no reaction. Then they played the song of the Eastern Bluebird. Immediately the little chicks began to sing a song they had never sang before. They sang the song that God had placed inside of them!

How could the little Eastern Bluebirds sing this song? Because there is a genetic code in their DNA that let them know that this was their song. This was their identity. This is who they are. They were singing the song they were created by God to sing!

I believe each of us is born with a genetic code in our DNA that causes us to want to worship something. (Stop and reread that last sentence.) But when I hear the song of the Native Americans – worshiping the “great spirit in the sky” – it doesn’t move me to worship. When I hear the song of the buddhists – it doesn’t move me to worship. When I hear the song of mohammed and the muslims – it doesn’t move me to worship. When I hear the song of the New Ager’s exalting the earth to god status – it doesn’t move me to worship. When I hear the song of the Mormon’s telling me that Jesus was “a” son of God – it doesn’t move me to worship. When I hear the song of the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ telling me that Jesus was a good man, a prophet, one of many sons of God – and that only 144,000 are going to heaven – it doesn’t move me to worship. Oh! But when I hear an ole preacher preaching about the saving power of Jesus Christ and folks singing songs with lyrics like: “Amazing grace how sweet the sound …” or, “On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame, and I love that old cross where the dearest and best, for a world of lost sinners was slain.” Something deep inside of me begins to resonate and I realize they’re singing my song! As a Christian, every fiber of my Spiritual DNA is filled with the truth of what they’re saying! They’re singing my song! And I cannot contain myself! When I ponder the lyrics: “There’s within my heart a melody, Jesus whispers sweet and low. Fear not I am with thee, peace be still, in all of life’s ebb and flow!” I must cry as the Psalmist of old: “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord!” Hey! It resonates with me! That’s my song! That’s who I am! It’s in my Spiritual DNA!
